So, after living in Canterbury, England for two weeks I have decided to list "Canters Top Ten" things to do (PS: the top ten are not in any order!):
.) Boho ~ A little Indie restaurant/cafe with amazing vegetarian options. They have regular burgers of course but you can substitute any one of the burger recipes with a veggie burger. They also have grilled cheese with pesto and tomato (interesting...) plus a spectacular Panini sandwich. It's also a great place for a cup of tea or a sip of soda (complete with purple bendy straw!). Boho also offers vintage buttons and clutches handmade by a local artist.
.) The Moat Tea Rooms ~ A very quiant yet elegant tea house with a very kind and helpful staff. They have a large variety of different teas (and coffee if anyone feels they need to step away from the Britishness) and a great selection of cakes and bite size sandwiches. I suggest a pot of English Breakfast with their Lemon Sponge Cake. It's like heaven...
.) Thrift Shopping ~ There were at least six different thrift shops in Canterbury...all of which were amazing. The names of the different shops escapes me but all of them were very cool! Some of them offered old Halloween costumes and The Nightmare Before Christmas bags while others sold old hats, army medals, school uniforms and cute jackets. Any of the thrift shops in Canters will surely amaze you.
.) Siesta! ~ As Caroline Locatelli would say, Siesta is a "Hippie" store. This place sells everything from gag mugs and piercing jewelry to dijuridos and insense. It's a large store for Canterbury but and has wide selection for any style of clothing. The scarves are expensive but very cute and come in all different kinds of colors (no joke).
.) The Secret Cellar ~ Another veggie friendly place with a kind staff. I have yet to actually eat here but I peeked in to see it and talked to the manager. It's a movie themed cafe/diner that resides under an art gallery. It's a little hard to find (hence "secret") but it's quite cool and pretty. The manager gave me a list of all the old movies that will be playing throughout the week and to come when the one I wanted to see would be playing. There are movie posters and vintage film novels and scripts hanging around for those to look at and see, plus the food looks and sounds quite satisfying.
